Can someone help me figure out where the article says that she was Deaf since a young age or Deaf since she was institutionalized?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7696461118314848250.post-58819937655837878182010-08-17T09:51:27.438-04:002010-08-17T09:51:27.438-04:00RLM- My question is where the lady from?RLM- My question is where the lady from?Deaf Pixiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02183792947838196235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7696461118314848250.post-6081655869423439122010-08-16T22:30:10.953-04:002010-08-16T22:30:10.953-04:00That's so sad : / The client I deinstitutiona...That's so sad : / The client I deinstitutionalized was at an institution for 54 years. Notice they all have one thing in common? They were placed in institutions many decades ago. This woman and my client were already identified as Deaf but put in institutions due to lack of Deaf services. Still they got 'forgotten', languishing in the institutions for decades. No excuse.

I don't hear stories about the younger generations being placed in inappropriate institutions any more. We have multiple specialized programs now, including National Academy for the Deaf.

Still with human nature, there is always the possibility of this happening again with the clients falling between the cracks. sigh

MZAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7696461118314848250.post-26139580631344005352010-08-16T22:13:45.274-04:002010-08-16T22:13:45.274-04:00Poor lady go through and education seem faded to n...Poor lady go through and education seem faded to not learn ASL in her lifetime which she did not committed this crime.
