Deaf moviegoers in general are still treated as the third-fourth class citizens when come to the advance movie ticket purchases.

There are no advance information regarding the captioned J.J. Abram's new "Star Trek - Future Begins" film - Star Trek (film).

We, deaf people could not possibly do the advance movie tix purchases for any upcoming feature films anywhere in the USA without knowing WHEN the captioned films will be available.

That is totally unfair to millions and millions of deaf moviegoers being left in dark when will be the captioned particular film being shown in exact city or theatre.

Three weeks left for the wide-release of the new J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" film. I would like to do the advance tix purchase to be with my friends viewing this film together. I CAN'T!!

Many deaf people and I have to wait and wait and wait and check out the http://www.fomdi.com/ to find when the particular film like the new J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek - Future Begins" in captioned version to be available in Open Captions (OC) or Rear Window Captioned (RWC).

I personally PREFER open captions and refuse to patronize any theaters shown films with RWC.

The Insight Cinema website used to post the scheduled captioned film screenings in advance. It have been discontinuted of OC film listings.

I am really tired of checking and checking out any captioned films every week on Fomdi.com.

Deaf people nowadays often travel and rarely stay home. If Hollywood really want my business and loyalty for regular film viewings. PLEASE MAKE ADVANCE CAPTIONED FILM SCREENINGS BEING AVAILABLE FOR ADVANCE TIX PURSCHASES.

Or I will be no longer bother with checking out http://www.fomdi.com/ as part of increasingly boycott to teach the movie theatres for treating deaf moviegoers to the third-fourth class citizen.

I know that there are more issues to "bread and butter" than this entertainment issue, BUT
many people nowadays need to go someplace for escapism film like the Star Trek.

UPDATE: Similar to early TMP teaser?The new poster is similar to an early teaser magazine image for Star Trek The Motion Picture, designed by John Berkey. Is it an homage or just a coincidence?

UPDATE: Japan PosterJapanese TrekMovie reader Tatsumi points us to the Electro-ticket Pia site (a big ticket selling agency) that has a new Star Trek poster. The text above is "From the director of ‘M:iIII’" and below ‘Star Trek’ it says" His name is James T. Kirk." This has not been confirmed yet by Paramount, but looks pretty legit.

AFA Ought to Do the Images Awards Like GLADD and NACP

The Audism Free Audism (AFA) ought to do the annual "images" awards like the Gay and Lebasian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) - http://www.glaad.org/ and National Association of Colored People (NACP) - http://http://www.naacpimageawards.net/ in timely manner to boost the reputation and visibility of this newly-formed grassroot activism organization of the deaf promoting the real and definite images of deaf people without being dragged in pathological attitudes.

The National Association of Colored People (NACP) already done its 40th years of giving the images awards to the Hollywood filmaking and television and music industry for the decent and impressive and realistic portrayals of black people in general.

Same thing with the Gay, Lebasian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for its very recent 20th years of giving awards to the very same creative community at large for delivering the realistic and fair images of the sexual minority on the silver screens, TV sets and human ears.

The Audistic Free America (AFA) could boost its financial bottom-line in raking the real money, financial donations from hosting the very first Deaf Image Definition awards to the creative community outside the Deaf America. The AFA could affront the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf in the image-making outreach efforts and diminish the AGBell's dominance over the medical industry and the general public.

The GLADD recently got $300,000 Strategic Software grant from the Microsoft. Inc. The NACP surely received millions and millions from other generous financial donors in fighting for the rational images of African Americans before the eyes of the Americans and the rest of the world.

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) should done the "images" awards pretty long time ago to increase the familiarity and visibility of deaf people in non-pathological manner. It didn't!

The creative community at large, always love of receiving awards to acknowledge the public appreciation of their hard works and dedications to make the real difference in people's lives.

Open Letter to the Associated Press (AP)

In the factual in correction of your recent Associated Press's Daily Historical Fact Reminder, 4/15/09 regarding the first American school for the deaf opened in Hartford, Connecticut (1817).

The correct known fact about the first existing American school for the deaf was the Cobbs Plantation School in the present Fredericksburg area of Virginia, not the American School for the Deaf in Hartford, CT. The short-lived school for the deaf (Cobbs Plantation School) only existed from 1812 to 1815 in the Chesterfield County (Virginia Piedmont area) where the young George Washington raised in the very same area.

The following information could be found in countless reputable sources -

"The Virginia Landmarks Register" by Calder Loth, Virginia Department of Historic Resources, University of Virginia Press, 1999, p. 194

Many people still get confused with the general misassumption about the American School for the Deaf of Hartford, Connecticut being the first American school for the deaf. It was technically known as the first "permanent" school for the deaf.

The real difference between the first "existing" and first "permanent" school for the deaf. The American School for the Deaf in Hartford, Connecticut still serve as the residential education center for deaf youngsters.

What Do You Really Think of Marlee Matlin's Alleged Abuses?

From reading the US weekly magazine last weekend on Actress Marlee Matlin's alleged (real shocking) abuses from sexual molestation by her 16 years old female babysitter to the heavy-handed treatment by respectable actor William Hurt.

Last week's US magazine edition revealed more about MM's enduring abuses than in the CNN interview.

Marlee Matlin is well-known for her gay-friendly friendship with numerous deaf gay guys which she personally attended one known deaf gay marriage pretty long time ago (before the gay marriage became fashionable). Matlin also have close friendship with deaf gay guys.

That seems very shocking about Marlee dealt with sexual molestation from her female babysitter as the fact of MM's close friendship with deaf gay guys. Marlee also dealt with the inapporiate relationship with the high school teacher. Matlin had no resentments toward deaf gay guys. Evidently, Marlee felt connected with deaf gay guys due to her personal experience with sexual molestation.

Actress Marlee Matlin really gave the superb performance as Sarah in the 1986's "Children of the Lesser God" in despite of scathing responses from the deaf community. Her performance and actor William Hurt's performance in the "Children of the Lesser God" revealed true afflictions of their relationship later in real life.

No questions about William Hurt being patronized toward Marlee Matlin as some kind of little girl. Hurt was known for using the sign language communication with MM, but he had somewhat a tendency of being an audistic.

The real surprise about Marlee Matlin's past recreational drug uses which never strike me as a person for the drug abuse. Same thing with actor William Hurt for his drug use and alcohol abuses.

I personally never like actor William Hurt as a person, not because of his affiliation with Marlee Matlin. Something off (vibes) about Hurt himself. I always enjoy William Hurt's film performances.

Marlee Matlin made a brilliant timing of her new autobiography book, "I Will Scream" which she always want to spill the beans about alleged abuses from actor William Hurt.

In the 1980s, actor William Hurt was a big-time Hollywood star with box-office clouts from "Body Heat" to "Altered States". No questions about Marlee's affection for William Hurt as a fellow thespian which Hurt done many memorable film performances.

Ought to read Marlee Matlin's new book this week and share my thoughts with all of you, Deafread blog readers.

Open Letter to AFA from RLMDEAF

 Here is an open letter to the Audism Free America - 

  I personally urge you, the Audism Free America (AFA) to send in the certified mail with return signature as soon as possible. That is only the way for the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf (AGBell) from claiming that they never receive any kind of formal request from you, the AFA. 

  How true about email correspondences being legally recognized as standard piece of communicaton in many judicial circles, but some people manuever deniability in very effective way.  Certified mail with return signature is most economical and reliable proof for legal claim. The AFA have to state the date of expected response, too. That will make the AGBell pretty hard to avoid any legal manuever. 

  Please seek the pro bono legal advisor specialized in organizational issue which will be very helpful for the AFA. 

  The AGBell somewhat violated the terroritial law of District of Columbia and federal laws for not providing the copy of computer disk while denied you, the Audism Free America any options for videorecording for record purpose. 

  Why in the world, the AFA being prohibited of having the meeting to be recorded thru independent means without any editing modes from the AGBell?

  The Audism Free America had a historic meeting with the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf out of courtesy for open dialogue concerned the issues of educational options for deaf babies and youngsters. No video or visual recording, ex. photos are pretty troubling for this kind of dialogue.

Wonder Whether Hearing Pass-Bystanders and Drivers Understand "Audism"

After viewing two "Audism Free America" rally videos provided by the AFA website. The hard questions about whether hearing pass-bystanders and drivers really understood the word - "Audism" without getting any fact sheets from demonstrators explaining more what it really meant.

Ironically, the month of April is to be the Month of Autism Awareness. That could be to our own advantages, too.

The Audism Free America and other deaf organizations needs to recruit the "test audience" like plucking hearing people from the street and ask them question(s) about any wordings on the rally poster and get the feedback how to improve and maximize the real impact on hearing pass-bystanders and drivers. So we could effectively educate the hearing society at large about what and why "audism" is a big concern, etc.

The Anti-Globalization demonstrators at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank and other kind of demonstrators effectively put the street theatres and life-large puppets on the street and caught the media's attention to the issue of the dangers of globalization.

We probably ought to put some words below AUDISM in very simple wordings without overwhelming the hearing pass-bystanders and drivers. We have to remmy that those hearing people just had less than a minute of glancing at the AFA rally posters.

For years, the Japanese automakers successfully marketed their small cars to individuals all over the world. Why??? The Japanese automakers always LISTENED and sat with various auto drivers in the rear seat and questions the drivers what the Japanese automakers could improve and satisfy the would-be customers and future drivers.

The American automakers were pretty arrogant and impulsive by making misassumptions about what the American customers wanted. Look at the high stockpiles of unsold American cars like the gas-guzzling Humvee and other kinds of cars across America! The American automakers hardly bother to sit down and listen to what the customer would benefit from real improvements.

Being a culturally deaf myself, I completely understand the word of "AUDISM". We have to be in the shoes of clueless hearing people about the meaning of "AUDISM" and make them care about our issue.

We also have to educate the media people, too and make them being the agent of change, too.

Many companies and entertainment industry especially film studios often recruit the test audience for marketing purpose and feedback. The film studios often change the endings of given film if the test audience strongly feel that the ending was too depressing or confused. In the end, the film studios successfully had the box office hits as opposite to the major flops.

I am NOT saying that the AFA rally last April 3rd to be any kind of flop or disaster. I praise the AFA people and demonstrators for their hard works. We need to win the minds and hearts of hearing people within the society at large to turn against the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf (AGBell).

I meant to write "AUDISM, AUDISM, AUDISM WHAT???" article for major publications to educate the general public what "audism" really meant before the AFA rally, but I never did. I will do it anyway real soon.

Vallahian.Com's Misconstruction of "Reverse Audism"

Eric Gjerdingen aka Vallahian.com really misconstructed or misinterpreted the meaning of "reverse audism".

Many of us, deaf people already know what "audism" meant or understand the concept of "audism".

The general definition of "audism" are about hearing people keeping deaf people in its place like denying opportunity to us, deaf people from reaching out to the full capacity of our cultural and linguistic uses. Or either the meaning of audism for hearing people having such prejudiced or discriminatory viewpoints of deaf people as human beings.

The correct interpretation of "reverse audism" would be about deaf people deny or demote hearing people to the fairness of society like denying them the admission to the deaf club because of their hearing status. Or deaf person in authority position bypass qualified hearing individual over unqualified deaf individual for given employment /volunteer position. It is properly defined as "reverse audism".

Any deaf people apply prejudice or belittlement or scorn or ridicule other deaf people based on their signing abilities would be characterized as "horizontal or vertical oppression", not "reverse audism".

That's what Patricia Raswant of her blog and others used to discuss about the so-called horiztional and vertical oppression toward particular deaf group during the Unity for Gallaudet protest.

Some deaf individuals recalled their school days of being ridiculed and mocked for their non-signing abilities seen as the typical schoolyard bullying tactics. That was nothing to do with "reverse audism".

The educational system of the deaf vigorously ought to root out the schoolyard bullying toward deaf students by other deaf students.

The society at large slowly increasingly realize the existence of "reverse racism" by any ethnic or racial minority group like black people technically deny or dismiss the white people to the employment opportunity or kind of legitimate complaint within workplace situation or law enforcement issue.

Eric Gjerdingen ought to issue the formal apology to the Audism Free America for his misconstruction and misinterpretation of "reverse audism".

The Audism Free America (AFA) grassroot activist group never engaged in any kind of reverse audism against hearing people as part of systematic revenge or payback. The AFA simply confront the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf (AGBell) for past and present attitude mode and tactics of undermining the existence of cultural and linguistic uses among deaf people in educational area and popular entertainment and other means.

Did you see the AFA holding up signs saying "Down with Hearing People!"? Nope!!!!

More and more deaf people begin to stand up and remind the society at large about the unacceptable norms of systematic prejudices and discrimination against deaf people in general.

That is what the Audism Free America try to do lately. The Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf often use pathetic excuses like pointing out to the parental choices for preferred communication modes for any parents' deaf babies and youngsters. This very same organization usually imposes the unworkable ideology upon emotionally vulnerable parents of deaf babies and youngsters from exploring all kinds of options of best availability of educational needs for deaf kids in general.

The AGBell Association ever done the audistic behavior by writing to the Pespi Cola and NBC-TV network and other associations over endless years by questioning their decision to feature the beauty of American Sign Language (ASL).

Why the AGBell want to intervene the model of free market among American corporations, ex. Pespi Cola and NBC-TV network for its own free-willed decisions of showcasing the true diversity of American society?

Have the National Association of the Deaf send up any written objections to any company or entertainment medium that they should not show any oral communication methods used by deaf? Don't think so!

The Audism Free America made very pragmatic and logical demands to battle the evils of audism to the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf. Nothing extreme or reverse audism about the AFA's demands and actions.

The eye-popping facts about the AGBell's membership ratio largely consisted of medical professionals by 67% percentage to 9% of deaf people in its membership. The AGBell finally elected the deaf person to the leadership position last two summers ago.

The Audism Free America conducted very dignified and responsible demonstration in front of the AGBell's Volta Bureau building and educated the society at large about saying NO, NO, NO to AUDism!
