Handful of DeafRead readers somewhat got the wrong impression that Honorable Barack Obama actually visited the Iowa School for the Deaf on January 1st. The victor of the Iowa 2008 caucus just campaigned at the publicly-funded public facility as part of regular campaign stops. Very typical of primary presidential campaigns to find any suitable facility to accommodate the large numbers of supporters and undecided voters.
Nothing special about Obama had a campaign stop at the Iowa School for the Deaf (ISD)'s Harry Langdon Bouvelard Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) while the ISD students hadn't returned to the school from their Winter Break at that time. This rally was arranged and hosted by Kristine Kolky. Honorable Barack Obama never had a chance of touring the school and meeting any ISD students.
The Obama 2008 campaign rally at the ISD was supposed to be held at 6pm which delayed to 10:30pm. Questionable claims about the terps for the deaf and deaf individuals were present at the ISD rally by Dr. Jeanette Prickett, ISD Supertindent on David Evans' "Mr. Sandman's Sandbox" blog. No official information about providing the interpreters for the deaf attendees on the official Barack Obama websites or other Obama supporters' websites. Ever not on Barack Obama's websites for New Hampshire primary campaign events about providing terp services for deaf attendees at all. Yes, New Hampshire presidential campaign events were usually more "grassroots" events than formal campaign stops.
Perhaps the words of mouth got around with the Iowa Deaf Community about the presence of terps for deaf at very last-minute notices. The political campaign teams usually looked for terps willingly to volunteer or donate their time. Ever not bothered to keep their promises of paying terps for the deaf people. That's what happened with the George W. Bush's 2000 campaign people for not paying interpreters of the deaf at all. Several interpreters of the deaf still wait for the Bush people to send their paychecks as promised.
Obama's campaign stop at the Iowa School for the Deaf in Western Iowa that doesn't meant anything for Obama embraced the issues of deaf people or our cultural/linguistic concerns. Just need the facility to give the political speeches and host the rallies within the Obama 2008 campaign.
No validity or confirmation about deaf people being involved in the Iowa 2008 Caucus. The CNN live airings of Iowa 2008 caucuses didn't show any deaf individuals so far. No questions about how often our presence as deaf people tend to be invisible to the society at large.
Were there any deaf campaign volunteers within Obama's Iowa campaign team? Dunno know about all presidential contenders' New Hamsphire campaign team having any deaf volunteers.
What about any deaf individuals as paid staffers on any 2008 presidential campaign staff? Someone deaf claimed to be on Hillary Clinton's campaign staff- volunteer or paid staffer. Any truth to his claim?

Question the Validity of "Fact Findings" Deaf Blog!
Questioning the validity of "Fact Findings" Deaf Blogsite. Who is really behind this blog? What is the name of author/blogger, please. Thanks!
"Fact Findings" deaf blog is questionably validated with the so-called fact findings of the Deaf American Community. The blogger and blog itself do not provide any kind of statistical information or circuminstal evidence(s) at all.
How interestings of many deaf bloggers and commentators, who openly identified themselves thru familar screen name and real name as Jack Barr and other mores. Those deaf individuals convey and express their own inner thoughts honestly and unrestricted as compared to other deaf and hearing individuals using anonymous and deceived online alias.
Will you kindly please identify yourself as the blogger of "Fact Findings"? Or we will dismiss your fact findings from now on.
You know that there are such deaf societal norms and expectations for identifying ourselves to the given deaf community. Or consider such a violation of our "unwritten" deaf community pact.

How to Blog/Vlog Safely Without Getting Fired, Demoted or Suspended
Kim Symansky, Olathe, Kansas of "Deaf Mom3" vlogger expressed such concerns about many state and municipal employees within many residential schools of the deaf being forbidden from blogging and vlogging off-duty premises.
There are several organizations and legal experts helping out bloggers/vloggers with their own constitutional rights to express themselves like the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Legal guides for bloggers and vloggers are included in this website and other websites devoted to the freedom of expression and the speech.
More and more municipal governments and educational institutions forbade their own employees from having their own blogs/vlogs outside the employment premises due to fear about privacy issues, ex. students.
California is only the U.S. state with protections for people from getting fired, demoted, reprisal and suspended in any ways.
State and municipal employees ought to check out with their unions and employment guidelines and employment attorneys. They could blog anonymously without anyone find out the real identity of individual(s) involved.
Hopefully that will be very reassuring and helpful for would-be deaf bloggers/vloggers, who happen to be employed within public sectors.
Freedom of expression and the speech should prevail within all of us from tyranny, fear and condemnation.

Police Recently Taserized Deaf 20 Years Guy, then Died at the Hosptial
According to the WRC4-TV of Washington DC news report, the Frederick County's Sheriff Department taserized Jarrel Gray, 20 years old African American guy, who was deaf in one ear and died at the Frederick Memorial Hosptial. Gray was taserized which the sheriff deputies tried to break off the fight around 5am in Frederick area.

Marlee Maltin Neutral on CI Issues
Actress Marlee Maltin (MM)appeared on the iVillage syndicated show today (11/19) with Bill Rancic, former victor from Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" (2004). Rancic's blog said that the interview took the place on November 5, 2007.
Bill Rancic interviewed Marlee Matlin on the set of the "L-Word", Showtime-TV mature programming after the filming of final season episode(s). Rancic inquired Marlee Maltin about the CI issue. Maltin responded "I want to be netural on CI issues and doesn't want to get into this ....". MM managed to offer her own opinion that the parents of deaf youngsters ought to make a decision carefully whether the CI surgery is best for hir own children or not.
Hearing interviewer, Bill Rancic surprised Actress Marlee Maltin that he have his own sister, who is a certified audiologist. Maltin kept her own cool that Rancic tried to inject his own knowledge what his sister done with deaf children, blah.
Unforunately, there is no video clip from Marlee Maltin's interview. Nor taped this interview for the DeafRead readers within the RLMDEAF blog. So all of you out there, could draw your own conclusion from seeing the entire video clip of Marlee Maltin interview.
