The Doctors.Com Afternoon TV Show and CIs

What is up with the latest spikes in media coverage of CIs? Is there any hopeful agenda for the Obama administration to be more sympathetic to the urges of cochlear implant surgery among deaf youngsters?

The latest media coverage of CIs found yesterday, 1/8/09 on the syndicated tv show - "The doctors.com", a medical reporting tv show about the CIs on deaf youngsters.

http://www.thedoctorstv.com/main/info_finder Please type cochlear implant on Search and will show you different 8 CI features from this show. The title of "Procedure ..." is the main feature of yesterday's tv show - http://thedoctorstv.com/main/procedure_list/47

The hunky male host of "The Doctors" seems skeptical and disapproved of the idea of cochlear implant surgery on deaf babies thru his facial expression and body language. The parents of deaf baby daughter heavily emphasized "That is not a cure for deafness".

We are living in the period of economic instability right now. We do not need any government or private insurance spending on non-medical/health necessity like the mega-thousands cost of cochlear implant surgery on per child.

We ought to persuade "The Doctors" syndicated tv show to let the former cochlear implantees make their presence (show up) on TV to let the general public that there are real downsides to the cochlear implant surgery on non-consented deaf babies and youngsters.

It's time for the balanced news reporting on the issue of CIs before distressed and emotional parents of deaf babies and youngsters do the lifetime damage to their own offspring and children!

We must keep the watchful eye on the media coverage of cochlear implants on deaf babies and youngsters.

Unfortunately, there is no written transcript available from "The Doctors". Just the DVD on particular episode.

  3. I am the mother of the deaf baby featured on "The Doctors" and am very interested in reading any educational pieces that you would like to send. We agonized over this decision and spent almost a year reading every piece of literature and website we could get our hands on. Based on the progress we have seen in Landry over the last 2 months, we feel confident that we made the right decision.

We remain true to our belief that the CI is not right for everyone; we also feel strongly that parents should not be pushed into believing that this is the "only" option for their deaf child and wish that there was a happy medium between the deaf and Deaf world...

  8. SINCE WHEN HAS SEX BECOME RECREATON?
WOULDN'T IT BE BETTER IF MEN KEPT
ALL THE BLOOD IN THIER BRAINS?
COMMON SENCE SAYS IF YOU USE OR
ABUSE YOUR BODY IT WEARS OUT
IF ALL MEN NEED VIAGRA WHEN THEY AGE, ISN'T THAT A CLUE?
THE PURPOSE OF MARRIED SEX IS FOR INTAMACY AND CREATION!!!
    IF MEN ALWAYS MASTERBATE
AND USE ALL THIER SPERM, AS THEY AGE
THIER SPERM IS MORE LIKELY TO NOT
    BE THE BEST QUALITY!
INTELLEGENT PEOPLE DON'T USE SEX AS
    RECREATION1

  9. I wish you could tone down the music on the show. It is so loud that I can't hear what people are saying. I do not have a hearing problem.

  10. For the most part, I love the show and think it offers so much to all of us about our health and how to care for ourselves. I just think with all the hype and pressure on looking good, there is a little too much about plastic surgery, implants, botox, etc. There is nothing wrong with growing old gracefully and feeling okay about yourself as you are!

  12. I am really enthused that you are talking about college drinking today. I have witnessed many students who have drank to the point of passing out, some students ended up with alcohol poisoning. I don't think that parent's realize that drinking on college campuses is a real problem. I have going to college for about 9yrs and have witnessed many fights, screaming matches, and violence. I had to call the police more times than I can remember. The bars are also part of the problem. Many bars, surrounding the college's, have what they call Thirsty Thursdays, which is drinking for cheap.
When student's turn 21, they go to the bars and drink 21 shots of liqour. This is so dangerous for these students. I am not sure how to help parent's realize that their children can be in danger of drinking especially if they are far away from home. Many of these student's become alcoholics, and can not even go to their classes, and cannot do with out a drink.

  15. Could you please consider a discussion on the rare neurological disorder Dystonia? There is not enough information out there about it. For 30 years I saw countless doctors seeking answers to my bizarre symptoms and 'migraine' pain. I was finally diagnosed with genetic cervical dystonia in May of 2008. We have to find a way to bring it into the media light;we need to find a cure for this horrible disorder and the other movement disorders, too!

  26. To all of the "doubting Thomas's" out there--I've been suffering from chronic diarrhea for many years and have tried very expensive cures and tests to remedy the situation without success, so when I saw Robin McGraw on your show yesterday talking about eating "burnt toast" as a good home remedy I thought "what have I got to lose"? I not only ate 2 pieces of burnt toast, but I put "All Fruit" jelly on it and it was whole grain (usually no-no foods for diahrrea sufferers) and this morning after drinking my 3 cups of espresso coffee (yes, espresso, another no-no)I had the first normal bowel movement in YEARS, so thank you so much Robin--I'm thrilled to death!!!! xoxoxo!!!
