Deaf Census 2010

The U.S. Census officials will make the public announcement that they have a new policy on how the census people will count legally married same-sex couples without vaguely classify them as "unmarried partner". WHAT ABOUT COUNTING DEAF PEOPLE FOR 2010 U.S. CENSUS? No official 2010 census plan to count DEAF PEOPLE in the United States so far!! Why not???

Where is the NAD efforts to prod the U.S, Census Bureau to conduct the census survey on
deaf people-
socioeconomic level (income and educational level)
geographical location
unemployment and employment rate
ratio of deaf enterpreuters
percentage of deaf cochlear implant users
and signers and oralists
deaf people with deaf or hearing parents and hearing level
social-cultural identity (hard of hearing, latened deaf and culturally deaf), etc.
and other more.

The NAD had done the last census survey on deaf people back in the late 1960s. The U.S. Census Bureau stop doing the census on deaf people back in 1890s which was too confusing for them and the public to do the determination of deaf people's identity- deaf, hard of hearing and latened deaf, ex. elderly populace.

I would not mind of being the director of "Deaf Census 2010" project unit and hire the right and qualified people. I really need the gainful employment anyway. :) Of course, I must be very impartial and netural when come to the 2010 U.S. census on deaf people. No deaf ideology involved. Time is running out!

President Obama did sign the stimulus package for the greatly increased census population ount among the minority community (Deaf America) -

Implementing the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 at the Census Bureau
To ensure a successful 2010 Decennial Census, the Recovery Act includes $1 billion to hire additional personnel for partnership and outreach efforts to minority communities and hard-to-reach populations, increase targeted media purchases, and ensure proper management of other operational and programmatic risks.

We need to rally ourselves to the U.S. Census Bureau for what about counting us as part of the 2010 U.S. Census!

Are You in a Survey or Census?
Information for Survey and Census Participants

If you have received a telephone call from someone at the Census Bureau, and you have any questions, you may speak directly via telephone or e-mail with an employee of the National Processing Center.

Low-Functioned Deaf Taserized by AL Police

Here is the latest news report from the AP about the AL police done unjustifable stuff like taserizing the low-functioned deaf guy, who was not being aware of the police demand.

I tried and tried to attach the link, but the library computer system block "copy" link.

I had no choice like copy and paste this newsreport for the DeafRead readers. Okay?

Someone need to teach me how to find another way to copy the link. :)

Ala. Police: Taser Use on Disabled Man Justified
MOBILE, Ala. - Officers who used pepper spray and a Taser to remove a man from a store bathroom found out only later he was deaf and mentally disabled and didn't understand they wanted him to open the door, police said Tuesday.A spokesman for the Mobile Police Department said the officers' actions were justified because the man was armed with a potential weapon -- an umbrella.
A police officer demonstrates a taser gun in 2007. Manufacturers of the Taser stun gun on Monday unveiled a new handheld weapon on Monday which is capable of shocking three people without having to reload. (AFP/File/Carl de Souza)But relatives of Antonio Love, 37, have asked for a formal investigation and said they plan to sue both the police and the store.
"I want justice," Love's mother, Phyllis Love, said Tuesday.
The woman said her son hears only faintly, has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old and didn't realize that it was the police who were trying enter the bathroom.
"He thought the devil was out there trying to get in to get him," she said.
Antonio Love, in a written statement and in a television interview given in sign language about the confrontation, said he had a badly upset stomach last Friday and went into a Dollar General store to use the restroom.
Police spokesman Christopher Levy said Tuesday store workers called officers complaining that a man had been in the bathroom for more than an hour with the door locked. Officers knocked on the door and identified themselves, but the person didn't respond.
Officers used a tire iron to open the door, but the man pushed back to keep it shut. Officers saw the umbrella and sprayed pepper spray through a crack trying to subdue the man, Levy said. They shot the man with a Taser when they finally got inside, he said.
Officers didn't realize Love was deaf or had mental problems until he showed them a card he carries in his wallet, Levy said. He was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, but officers released him and took him home after a magistrate refused to issue a warrant.
Levy said officers were justified in using force against Love since he had an umbrella.
"The officers really worked within the limits of our level-of-force policy," he said. "We had no information about who this guy was."
Phyllis Love said her son, who has worked in the garden department at a Lowe's store for several years, was scared when he realized someone was trying to get into the bathroom with him. He put water on his face and on the floor after being hit with pepper spray, she said.
"He didn't know it was a policeman until they busted the door in on him," she said. "He had a knot on his head from where it hit him."
Levy said police wish the confrontation had never occurred. The internal investigation will include a review of Love's complaints that officers laughed at him after realizing he was deaf, he said.
"We'll make whatever efforts we can to resolve this situation, hopefully so this man will be able to trust police in the future so we can help him. Obviously, it's going to be a rough road," he said.

Oh, dear. It's been a bad day in Mobile.
An unmanned Air Force drone crashed into a local cemetery last night. Police report that so far they've recovered 327 bodies and expect the count to go higher.
When an off-duty Coast Guardsman tried to point out the possible error here, local police told him he was out of his jurisdiction.
The Air Force had no comment pending completion of their continuing search for the crash site.

Well geez Bubba, ya gotta think about this.
A guy locks hisself in a restroom for an hour, what's he up to?
Could be he's stealing the plumbing. He could be doing soma' that terr'ist stuff.Or...he could be sick?
Anyways, the big threat here is, he's messin' with the operation of a Dollar Store (one of the few remaining cornerstones of the failing economy of the Greatest Nation on Earth.)
See, ya gotta git all the facts 'for you can figger out who's the sum'bitch.

It's great to read these comments. My last week has been spent trying to introduce truth and reason on the std MSN blog site "newsvine", and it has been extremely burdensome. I would invite some of you to hold your noses and plunge in once in awhile, just to keep the fresh air flowing. Think of it as public service to those who are victims of rush/orielly/dobbs. It will be neither pleasant nor pretty, but avalable service opportunity disconsonant with those who standby and do nothing.I love this blog

O man, umbrella's are extremely deadly! I see local police in my gym all the time, always acting like tough guys. But when it comes to the real world, rather than subdue someone physically these narcissistic pricks take the cowardly path and taser at will. Then again, what else would to expect from someone who enlists to be a tool of oppression...just another tool.

TASERS ARE TORTURE DEVICES......... PERIOD!! Law enforcement agents are far too willing to use these devices because they "do not kill" and leave virtually no marks. They use them liberally at the slightest whim, and often use them for "punishment". The mission of law enforcement does not include summary punishment. Invariably the use of these devices is found to be "appropriate" in all cases. They close ranks and protect "their own" increasing the divide between the forces of law enforcement and those they supposedly protect. There IS NO JUSTICE for victims of law enforcement abuse weather it be being tazed, beaten, or outright murdered. It is time that law enforcement reconnected with the ordinary citizen, and their mission to "serve and protect". "Small" men with weapons and torture devices do not belong in law enforcement, and whatever their victims...... un-satisfied by justice... resort to is justified! There needs to be some fear of the consequences of abuse of power!

First we have a harvard professor trying to break into his private domain and now we have the gestapo trying to slither home [ the shit pools at the local waste treatment plant] via a public toilette. As to the exuberance of the pigs? Well, the carpenter desires timber the physician disease and the police, confrontation. I guess we will now have to broaden the definition of retarded, to include the "serve and protect" crowd.

Police in this country are drunk with power. The chemical weapons and tasers have emboldened police considerably. Often enough they are acting like gangs of thugs, protecting each other no matter what, unable to admit mistakes (Crowley/Gates for example, and this story) and brutalizing first before asking questions, if they ask at all.

First we have the pig arresting and cuffing a Harvard Professor in his own home after the prof. showed him identification of both a driver license and university ID. Obama called the police "stupid" after the incident (the one thing Obama has said that I believe and agree with), and police all over the nation come unglued.
Now we have this deaf, menatlly disabled person pepper sprayed and Tased after being in a restroom sick.
These bastards expect us to trust them? After this in one week of time? I think not. Not now, not ever!

Young Antonio Love was not far wrong: There were devils trying to break down the door. I don't understand the bone-headed feeding frenzy kind of behavior that takes over policemen's minds when they get in situations like this. Recently in my area, the local cops broke into a house in which a man was stabbing his pregnant girlfriend. The cops pulled out their weapons and the typical hail of bullets ensued. When the smoke cleared, the assailant was still standing, the victim had a 40 caliber bullet in her head and was pronounced dead. Now cops aren't the sharpest tools in the shed to begin with, but for some reason, when things get exciting, their IQ's drop at least 20 points.

Every day this country looks more and more like Stalin's Russia. Federal, state and local goons do what ever they like and none are held responsible. This goes right to the top. For example, we are still waiting for the Attorney General to finish thinking about the criminal activities of the previous administration and do something about them. Electronic snooping by the government is rampant and uncontrolled. Vast data bases have been constructed and filled with huge amounts of information about the citizens. These can be mined by the snoops without constraint. The Watch List of the Department of Homeland Security is an example of how we can be abused. It is badly flawed and little if any effort is made to correct it. The government makes the rules to protect us. Of course, there are always new enemies to be protected from and therefor more rules. The cages of the new gulags have already been constructed, the guards trained and they will be packed to capacity when necessary. It's not a pretty pictureof life in the Home of the Free. It's going to get worse.

It took me forever to figure out how to log in here, and probably just as well. Because I was absolutely furious after I read this piece.
I am guardian for my adult brother who has mental retardation. This could have been him, and not in AL. He'd have been absolutely terrified at the pounding and door wrecking and probably rendered motionless and speechless. And in his terrified state, he'd have had almost no chance of being able to unlock the door.
I am trying my best to see this from both sides. I can almost, ALMOST, justify knocking hard, harder, hardest and, getting no response, attempting to open the door. Why? Because someone may have been in trouble. Sick. Passed out. Dying. Dead.
Why is it that officers seem to be trained to assume the worst at all times, ergo, guilty until proven innocent? Rhetorical, I guess. It's for their own safety.
There's a fine line here, and clearly these officers stomped the daylights out of it. The training that needs to happen on the heels of this is for the officers, not for restoring this young man's faith in them.
I cannot imagine the physical and emotional trauma he endured.
Okay, I'm mad again. So I'll stop here. But I'm not done with this. Not by a long shot with my deadly umbrella.

Police need special training on how to discern between citizens who can't respond and people who won't respond in a way the police expect them to. People who live with a mental disability and also have a hearing impairment are doubly challenged. I remember reading about a school in America where troubled children were receiving little shocks when they misbehaved. At first this was considered a success because the children responded by being good but it was later discovered that it was counterproductive and in the long run it did not help the children to act the way they were expected and was cruel. I am often shocked by the acts of people with authority. I hope the day will come when all people will know sign language. People who are deaf have a lot to offer.

Attack first and ask questions later if at all.
Since this is the much same principle that has come to guide US foreign policy, here's a question: Is it the the Gestapo tactics of our local police that trickle-up to our foreign policy? -- or our Attack First foreign policy that trickles down to our local police?
I want to avoid asking either/or questions that provoke one-dimensional answers, so let me start out by first answering my own question: I think it is, at minimum both trickle factors, but much more than both, too.

jjI suspect that it is the feds, dictating to the lower echelon. This country has created a multi-level federalized enforcement system. I attended a local town bazaar this past weekend where the county police had their 'communications' van set up. Handouts on what to do in an emergency were basically saying that martial law would be declared and that police would have complete control and authority. Of course each person was suppose to provide for themselves food and water for three days... BUT NO WEAPONS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES WITH.The old 'civil defense' network of the 60's stressed local citizens banded together for local support.....The modern system rejects all local input except for the police and fire depts which have all been "educated" to believe that the state and federal authorities can provide better guidance, and that their loyalties belong to the federal government of the day. (IMHO).I've asked many a local politician why medium sized police departments require fully automatic weapons.... these are only useful in mob situations, and one would hope that local police would recognize that any "mob" is actually local "citizens" with mutual grievances. The number of cases where police shoot first is mounting. It is obvious that the federal, state, county and local authorities do not believe that the "people" have any rights or authority, only the uniformed agencies of the government. We have pretty much become a nation of "subject" not "citizens.

It would appear as if the police forces from the same state that produced the infamous March 7, 1965 "Bloody Sunday" police riot on the Edmund Pettus Bridge have not learned all that much since then. It should also be written that my large local police department, the infamous LAPD, are in that company as well.

Whoah, NateW,
RAMPART drug smuggling department made "The Shield" look like nothing. Ask old Rod King. If they don't know who you are like a deaf disabled guy, they crash your bathroom stall and torture you with a taser.
If they DO know who you are, "Guy has priors" (littering, wreckless driving) then they twist your arms, stick boots and kneecaps in between your shoulder blades and rub your corneas in the gravel. Ever see "Cops"? It is not fiction.
I would never live in such an uncivilized society that does that. I am dreading my next trip back there.

Tasers don't kill people...It's idiots who misuse technology that kill people.
Any Taser use should have the same post-incident review procedure as a firearm discharge. There was no need to use a Taser in this case. But the low threshold for Taser use will just get lower and lower. All of our kindergarten teachers will soon be issued Tasers to keep those little hoodlums in line. The sooner they learn their place, the better.
Now umbrellas, they DO kill people. I just hope he had a permit for that umbrella.

Trust: the result of keeping promises over a prolonged period of time...which would imply a first time, and an unbroken thread of repeat performances...
If the police were to begin handling situations like this without breaking down the door or pepper spraying or tasering, then that might count as a first time...then, they would have to repeat, without fail, for a prolonged period...

Hey, Barry Sewell on the Issue of Deafless and DBC

Barry, How could you discount the existence of A U D I S M from what many deaf people often face in their lives? You seems telling us that there are no such thing like "audism".

FYI, DBC or the Deafhood lectures NEVER tell us to form the collective mentality like the ant or bee colony to be DEAF. The Deafhood philosophy is to urge deaf people to explore their self-identity as a deaf person, not clique themselves to be an expectational minority.

From what you learned from the Nevada task force on disability was purely the political strategy to string up and convince the lawmakers for political purpose for the passage of
legislation. Nothing to do with the self-identity based on language and cultural formation.

Deafhood is not the strategy to tell deaf people to be part of the collective group to think
and behave conformity. You seems instill the ideal of conformity within your own family
and other people to co-exist with your own personal philosophy.

I personally am very disappointed with the Deaf Bilingual Coalition (DBC) and Audism Free America (AFA) from how they run the organizations. I greatly support their concepts of what they are doing to do, but not with their organizational effectiveness to make the real impact and change things how they are.

I assume that you feel resentful toward DBC or other organizations of the deaf do not take you seriously as a political strategist. I could see that you are not deafened yourself pretty much to the personal experience and philosophical movement of deaf activism.

AUDISM DO EXIST! You are partly right that the society at large needs to take a look at us as individual, not the generalization of who and what we are all about. We do have our names, instead of saying "That deaf black person with potbelly!", etc.

I also agree with Carl Schroeder aka Kalaku's Korner for your absurdity and illogical term use of "deafless". Every of us know the frightening and scary "headless horseman" from the classic American short story, "Sleepy Hollow". I guess that you are Mr. Crane character whose usually dismiss the existence of "headless horseman" until he met his own fate in the end. Refer to the dismissal of "headless horseman" within the existence of A U D I S M.

You are somewhat an entertaining and interesting deaf vlogger/blogger which I do find you to be real fascinating. I would not mind of meeting you someday.

Why would I write this blog posting, instead of leaving my comment on your vlogsite? I basically do not trust you after you censored and altered my comments in the past. Or delete particular comment and leave another comment of mine to leave such an impression that I am in total agreement with you.

That's why I hardly leave comments on your blog/vlogsite. You always have your own agenda what the deaf society should be. I am not a hit man for the DBC or AFA or anyone else. Caspice?

ASLize yours,
Robert L. Mason (RLM)

Believe It or Not, MJ's Children Will Receive SS Benefits

According to the MSN e-news report, the multi billionaire deceased singer, Michael Jackson's children will receive the monthly Social Security benefits. What???????? Are the children from the well-off parent(s) deserve this kind of benefit?

I am really tired of seeing such a stereotypical claims about too many deaf people drawing on the Social Security Income (SSI). I am kinda perplexed about children of well-off parents like
Michael Jackson are entitled to the Social Security benefits. I do aware of the usual arrangements for wives of deceased husbands and children of deceased parent(s) to draw the Social Security benefits for maintained the living support, but children of well-off parents??

Why didn't Michael Jackson arrange the trust fund for children in the first place? Is another fleecing of America by the irresponsible group of rich people like the megabanks and financial securities companies?

On another hand, Michael Jackson paid all his Social Security taxes anyway. His children seems have much rights to draw the Social Security benefits like other children of deceased parent(s).

We must stop labeling the deaf community at large for being dependent on the public assistance.
Many of us KNOW that is totally UNTRUE! We greatly often contribute to the society at large for being a hardworking and productive individuals paying taxes to all levels of government. We, deaf people often not get our real benefits from what we pay taxes.

For example, many and many deaf people could NOT participate in their local town hall meetings or enjoy the local events within the taxpayer subsidy, ex. the local city park event with
free music concert, etc. What about our deaf needs for the public entertainment??

It's TIME for us to stop demoralizing our own deaf community at large as a haven of welfare dependents!

We really NEED the 2010 census to identify how much percentage of deaf people being fully and part employed, self-employed and draw the public assistance to know for SURE! Don't you agree?

How true about handful of deaf individuals being very LUCKY to have some kind of disability benefits during the economic hardships as compared to many struggling hearing people being unemployed and homeless!

I wonder how much Michael Jackson's children will receive for their monthly Social Security benefits.

I personally do not have much respect for Michael Jackson since he really did not being very responsible person with his finances. MJ chose to spend, spend, spend, spend (shop, shop, shop).

Why can't the government/debtors do the auction on Michael Jackson's properties to reap
what MJ left his own financial mess in the first place?

The recent news report indicated that Michael Jackson's executor paid $5.5 million to someone undisclosed for the Las Vegas residence within the secret agreement. MJ instructed his executor to keep the deal the total secret. See that?? Michael Jackson had the cash money available!!

Too many rich people are very good at exploiting our public treasury by acting irresponsible and greedy, then expect our very own government to help out them during the hardship time. Huh!

The very same people like well-off and rich people whined about paying their fair share of taxes and other financial incentives and leave the middle-class populace hang by the thread. Sheesh!

Of course, we must expose the true evils of public assistance like the Social Security Income (SSI) benefits for handful of deaf people from making themselves truly financial independent and productive.

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) also was partially responsible for instructing several states not to do the mandates for deaf people to be required to go to work and get off the public assistance pretty long time ago like the late 1990s and early 2000s. For example, deaf people on the public assistance living in District of Columbia, do not require to participate in the welfare to work program to get off the public assistance.

The real suspicion for the NAD to be concerned for the well-beings of Gallaudet students from being required to participate in the welfare to work program or not able to get any kind of public assistance during their students' days, etc.

Ever numerous deaf foreigners (non-U.S. citizens) got real advantages from the HUD programs for buying condos and houses at the expenses of American taxpayers, especially struggling deaf Americans.

One deaf Canadian, who ever was not the U.S. citizen at all. He bought the condo unit in very nice Northwest DC neighborhood and DENY other deaf Americans, who would have the chance at the home ownership. He LAUGHED and LAUGHED at our country how idiotic we were with our American tax money. The deaf Canadian sold the condo at very handsome profit more than $150,000 from the HUD loan of $20,000 loan for $18,000 condo. He pocketed appx. $90,000 after paying taxes and loan and relocated to Canada in very comfortable life. That deaf Canadian recently died from AIDS.

Other many deaf foreigners from Etophia and Russia took real advantage of our generous American taxpayer-funded programs like the Section 8 housing programs to pay for their monthly rent. Those deaf individuals ever were not the U.S. citizens yet!

Not only deaf foreigners exploited our American taxpayer money. Hearing illegal immigrants, too. 3/4 of the Montgomery County (MD) housing subsidy were going to the illegal immigrants after the government investigation discovered. The housing authorities across America did not done their part to verify the U.S. citizenship.

Should we deny the Social Security benefits to Michael Jackson's children and let them experience the real economic hardships like many of us, deaf Americans? What the families are for? Why can't Michael Jackson's own family members help out with Michael Jackson's children?

Many parents of deaf children, especially hearing parents exploited deaf children's SSI benefits for their own spending, not on their children's needs.

Personal recollections of many and many deaf individuals were not allowed to draw the SSI benefits after they once had past employment. For example, 40s deaf mother of teenager son had to work at the restaurant at very low wage and not able to focus on her teenager son's emotional and educational needs. In the end, deaf mother's teenager son impregnated another teenager girl. You see that the endless cycle of poverty circling and circling out to keep too many people to get out of the permanent poverty.

It's a time for us to revolt against the filthy wealthy people for exploiting us for too long!

John Yeh, Founder of "Viable, Inc (VRS) I Know Of

John Yeh, most successful and hardworking deaf enterpreuter ever known in the United States and the rest of Deaf World as I have a honor of knowing this very decent and respectable person.

I had been to John Yeh and his warmly-embraced family's residence in Potomac, Maryland many years ago. I knew their children before they grew up attending the Gallaudet University. John and his American wife regularly interacted with the deaf community at large, ex. social gatherings for the deaf.

John Yeh donated his hardworking multi-million dollars to the Gallaudet University while he served on the Gallaudet University board of trustees for many years. Yeh had done so much for
the deaf community at large in many ways from his finanical generosity for the creation of the Deaf Nation magazine and other deaf events.

John Yeh always have been a responsible and cautitious businessperson. Yeh always have been a main supporter of the Asian Pacific Association of the Deaf. Mr. Yeh also have been real patriotic within himself feeling for the U.S. armed forces by opening his heart and hosptiality
for numerous armed forces members whose happened to know the American Sign Language.

That really upset me to see some deaf individuals eager to kick someone within the falling status down from leaving several comments on my blog posting -

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Why the FBI Looked Into Viable's Rate Billing Trai...": Actually, Robert, if you read the criminal complaint against the Miami call center, it makes it clear that interpreters also accused Viable's Rockville call center of running up calls as well. From what I heard, CAC has stopped payment to Viable pending this investigation and many Viable employees have not been paid this past month. Viable has also started to lay off some eomployees. My concern is that Viable was poorly run because they did not have enough money to cover their employees' salaries when CAC stopped payment. Viable has been in business for three years and did not ave the common sense to save up money for even ONE MONTH of payments to its employees?!The Yehs should be ASHAMED!

Another comment left on my blog posting - "Why the FBI..... " -

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Why the FBI Looked Into Viable's Rate Billing Trai...": I 100% agree, management knows exactly what is happening with the minutes and how they are being counted. When contracting for the United States government there are precise restraints and restrictions and guidelines that have to be followed. This is not new information coming form Viable as we saw from the Texas location. This is not some “oops we made a mistake” this is a documented systematic fraudulent behavior that was investigated and accumulated enough evidence to freeze their assists and gain an indictment. This is such a shame for the EVERYONE, Viable management has let so so many people down. The good hearted, dedicated, brilliant minds that worked hard and gave up good jobs (most relocated to work for Viable) to the dedicated interpreters that were stuck in the middle of all this. Shame on Viable, they ruined their name, reputation and destroyed and credibility they had. Say hello to the Enron of the VRS world.

We must let the American judical catch phrase - "Innocent Until Proven Guilty"

I still stand beside John Yeh and the Viable, Inc. I will be not one of the sharks smelling blood and circling around the fallen ones. I hope that the FBI investigation will clear up John Yeh and the Viable, Inc's name in timely manner.

Did the U.S. Government Done Entrapment on VRS Industry?

Here is the shocking revelation of the so-called government entrapment on the VRS industry, especially the Viable, Inc.

One of the anonymous source send me this email message -

Date: Fri, 24 Jul 2009 10:37:05 -0400> Subject: Re: More comments> To: rlmdeaf@hotmail.com> From: @tmail.com> >

Several friends of mine got FCC money turning on VRS, telling the > interpreter to dial a certain number that lead to a recording for hours > and hours.> > One of those friends left the USA.> > When I told him what happened to Viable he has not spoken to me again.

Was the federal government conspired to get rid of the federal fundings of the VRS calls by doing
the entrapment calls to lure the VRS industry into so-called hours long VRS calls?

Why in the world for the federal government recruit deaf foreigners to dial up the VRS company for the foreign-based phone calls??

Ridor's New Blog!

Handful of DeafRead readers and viewers keep asking about Ricky Taylor aka Ridor's latest blog postings so far.

You could find the truly controversial deaf blogger in America - Ricky Taylor aka Ridor which his blog re-titled "Deaf, Gay & Angry This Time, It Is Personal! ". Let me hold for a moment to explain how come Ridor's blog title now is "Deaf, Gay & Angry".

Don't you remember last two years' local Southeast Virginia weekend magazine done the feature story on Ricky Taylor aka Ridor. Its feature article titled - "Deaf, Gay & Angry". You could read more on Ridor's new blog site.

Ricky Taylor aka Ridor done the FIRST e-news scoops on the FBI investigation of VRS companies before anyone else on the DeafRead! I personally knew about the occurrence of
FBI raids upon several VRS companies last two and half weeks ago, but not able to confirm the independent reporting. I notified one particular individual which ended up sending out the unconfirmed news reporting. That very same particular individual enclosed the Gazettee article on the FBI raid upon the Viable, Inc. Other deaf blogger did not give any credits to Brian
Riley for enclosing the Gazette article about the FBI visit to the Viable, Inc. Real shame on these
deaf blogger like Steve aka the Deaf Sherlock and others make a habit of posting anything from Brian Riley's "SODS" e-news distributions and acted like that they found articles on their own.

Ricky Taylor aka Ridor still do the well-written blog entries as he always do! Ridor seems more
careful and pragmatic when come to the blog writing. Ridor write several interesting blog entries. Ridor seems more tactful with his current blog writings.

Enuff about "beating the bush" on the whereabouts of Ridor's new blog site! Here is www.deafproject.com and click on the Blogs and find "R" or "Deaf, Gay and Angry" blog. Enjoy
Ridor's new blog entries! D'accord?

Why the FBI Looked Into Viable's Rate Billing Trail?

Why the FBI Looked into the Viable, Inc's Rate Billing Trail? That was probably the routine FBI investigation covering the interested party. One of my friend within DC area sent me the e-msg without any in-depth explaination. I deleted my friend's name and email address to protect the reporter's source.

Here is the email message -

Viable is not a certified VRS provider that can bill directly to NECA/FCC, Instead Viable used CACVRS to bill for their VRS services)

Who is the CAC? I checked out that was the Communication Access Center based in Flint, Michigan. The CAC office also existed in Indiana. The CAC usually provided the technical services to various telecommunication facilities.

That explained why the FBI got its pique about the Viable, Inc's so-called questionable rate
trail which the Viable, Inc. headquarter people probably had nothing to do with any unethical relay billing practices.

The Viable, Inc., had fully cooperated with the FBI to sort out the rate billing issues.

What Will Be In For Deaf America with Health Care Reform?

What will be really in for the Deaf America within the final passage of the American health care?

Will we see much easy and non-complicated access to the sign language interpreter(s) and alternative kind of interpreter(s) for the deaf or what?

Will the official health care reform quickly maximize the numbers of cochlear implant
surgery on deaf babies and youngsters in real short time?

Will the signing Deaf patients' services to be delayed much further due to the availability
of ASL/alternative interpreters? If any deaf patient is much willing to waive the request
for the ASL interpreter within medical emergency or quick doctor visit? Many hospitals
and doctor offices usually schedule the signing deaf's appointment within four weeks for
cheaper interpreter fees or availability of interpreter, etc.

Will the hospitals and clinics and private doctor offices be really willing to compromise
with deaf patients for obtaining the medical visit on very short notice without presence
of interpreter?

If the medical authorities refuse to engage in "pad and pen" communication with deaf
people whose choose to see without any presence of interpreter. That will delay deaf
Americans much further without getting a medical examination on very short notice.

Will the US. government agencies like the Center for Diseases (CDC) and National Institute Health (NIH) really impose the cochlear implant surgery upon deaf people, deaf babies and youngsters as part of the preventive treatment?

Will the Deaf America end up assigned only to the medical professionals, who do sign or cued speech or exaggerated mouth features? Not much options for deaf individuals whose seek quicker medical treatment or examination if the nanny government strongly feel that deaf people would be better off with assigned medical professionals whose exclusively cater to
deaf people.

Is Sotomayor a "Deaf-Friendly" Judge?

Meant to write this blog posting for more than few months questioning whether the Federal Appellate Judge, Sonia Sotomayor being the deaf-friendly judge or not. Finally doing the blog posting on the questions of Sotomayor's intentions toward deaf people in general. The well-known fact about Sotomayor living in New York City most of her life.

Many of us, deaf people are much aware about New York City populace being pretty much leaned toward the oralist philosophy for years and years. More and more deaf people hardly get hired for gainful employment in NYC for more than a decade. Why???

Judge Sonia Sotomayor apparently have a mixed judicial records on disability issues and workplace accessibility and accommodation issues for disabled individuals brought up to
Sotomayor's judge bench.

Here are numerous reliable sources refer to Sotomayor's judicial decisions affecting deaf people in general. Look at several judicial cases -

Norville v. Staten Island University - the judicial case involved the workplace accessibility and accommodation which led to the unjustifiable firing of longtime employee on the issue of
accessibility and accommodation request(s) under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) law.

Gant v. Wallington Board of Education

Willaim V. R.H. Donnelly Co.

Cruz v. Coach Strauss

EEOC v. J.B. Transportation, Inc.

What is the real Sonia Sotomayor's stance on the perspective of deaf people?

If the Audism Free America (AFA) or Deaf Bilingual Coalition (DBC) or National
Association of the Deaf bring the case to the U.S. Supreme Court like challenging the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s approval of cochlear implant surgery and device
or U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and other state regulatory agencies involved the trucking industry's illogical refusal of hiring deaf drivers.

Or the Deaf Bilingual Coalition (DBC) challenge the U.S. Department of Education for its failure of providing the federal-level leadership on inclusive educational methods on the issue of Auditory-Visual Therapy which often seen as very harmful incentives for educators and parents to undermine the deaf child's language acquisition and intellectual development potentials.

Did you know that the U.S. Supreme Court still refuse to provide the request for American Sign Language interpreter for the court building tour? It consider hirself to be above the American laws.

Interesting Revelation about Our So-Called Deaf Blogs/Vlogs

The social studies of online blogs (not including vlogs yet) always intrigue me to see how the society at large transformation dealing with information and details.
http://www.salon.com/books/excerpt/2009/07/06/scott_rosenberg

I am not much aware of any kind of formal study of deaf blogs and vlogs affecting the deaf community.

I met numerous deaf people whose greatly dismiss the deaf blogs and vlogs as some kind of nuisance or unwelcome stuff.

I also noticed pretty changes within deaf people's societal attitudes toward me. Handful of particular deaf individuals pretty avoid me which they fear of my possibility of posting personal information, etc. Others embrace me very well or treat me normally. Ever some deaf people send me or talk to me with very damaging information about any particular deaf people. I really have to be careful what I am supposed to do like writing the blog piece to inform the Deaf America and the rest of Deaf World. I refuse to allow anyone to use me to destroy someone deaf for personal reasons. That would be not the proper journalism ethics.

I never will post any personal information whenever any deaf people share their private conversation. All of us are human beings with our own flaws. That is against my own nature anyway. I am a Sagittarius myself which I tend to be more loyal and understanding. I do condemn any kind of deaf cronyism, favoritism and corruption.

I often walk on very thin line whether I should write and post any blog piece to right the injustices toward deaf people as Ricky Taylor aka Ridor have been very famous for.

The Salon article mentioned that the society at large consider too many blogs out there. Do you agree with this societal assumption?
