NAD Really Never Emphasize Heavily on Voter Registration Drives

For many decades, the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) really never actively emphasize on the importance of voter registration drives for ALL state associations of the deaf and other deaf organizations on their introductory/main web pages or during their conferences, meetings and special events.

NAD did urge the register to vote back in 2008, but just done it ONCE. Guess what? NAD just posted the very long page - blah, blah, blah, blah about registered to vote. NAD and all state associations of the deaf and deaf organizations NEVER post any BOLD-LETTERED on their introductory web page like "ALREADY REGISTER TO VOTE??" 'IF NOT, REGISTER TO VOTE NOW !!!!!" Look at NAD webpage from 2008 - http://www.nad.org/issues/civil-rights/help-america-vote-act/be-prepared

WHO HAVE TIME TO READ LENGHTY PAGE ABOUT URGE TO REGISTER TO VOTE?? We should get to the POINT why we ought to register to vote...

Some state associations of the deaf like Maryland Association of the Deaf DID urge its own members to register to vote before the given deadline by the state election board in very passive way. Look at the MAD webpage from 2008 - http://mdad.tv/2008/10/why-is-it-important-to-vote/

Arizonia Association of the Deaf (AAD) did urge its own constitutents to register to vote - http://www.azadinc.org/votereg.htm No "DEAF" features to motiviate and mobilize the deaf grassroots to register to vote. Just post the referral web page.

South Carolina Association of the Deaf did urge its own members to register to vote, but it referred members to the general webpage associated with the disabilty group. Look at SCAD webpage and see for yourself! South Carolina Disability Coalition really doing the voter registration drive, not the SCAD. Look at that webpage and see for yourself!
http://www.state.sc.us/dmh/client_affairs/scdvc_brochure.pdf

Just one Deaf organization web page to be found about the voter registration drive- New York Black Deaf Advocates, but but but NO BOLD LETTERINGS to urge members to register to vote. Look at that web page - http://nycbda.weebly.com/nycbda-member-achievements.html

Texas Association of the Deaf (TAD) did have its own voter registration drive at the Texas School for the Deaf's Homecoming event last October 2011 for very first time in TSD history! TSD managed to register about 50 new Deaf voters. *waving hands* http://deaftexas.org/wp/?s=voter+registration+drive&x=27&y=21

You could see HOW PATHETIC we, the Deaf community being very passive about our own citizenry rights to vote and take it for GRANTED!!!

NAD and all state associations of the deaf and deaf organizations MUST insert the permanent ASL video messages to mobilize all their members and non-members within the Deaf/deaf community to register to vote on their webpages by the end of February 2012! Ever NAD and all state associations of the deaf and all deaf organizations must remind all the deaf citizenry to register to vote on frequent basis like twice per month or every week!

NAD and state associations of the deaf and all deaf organizations and clubs MUST bring the sheets of voter registration forms every time for meetings, lectures, special events and other events. Voter registration drives are FREE and EASIER TO DO. We must follow up with every involved individuals to see if they already get their voter registration card or not. DON'T WAIT UNTIL A MONTH BEFORE ANY SPECIAL OR PRIMARY OR GENERAL ELECTION! COMPRENDO??

So we, Deaf America could create the real powerful "political" and economic" and "social" constitutency. We have our Deaf allies, CODAs, family members and hearing activists to join us, Deaf America to turn the tides and shake the system to meet our "Deaf' expectations.

How come the NAD never invite the President of the United States and state governor and mayor of host town to our national conference to give the honorary speech every two years and give the NAD much greater media exposure? We ought to extend our invitation to President Barack Obama and other presidential opponent(s) for the general election.

All deaf organizations and state associations of the deaf OUGHT to invite local and state elected officeholders, ex. mayor, councilperson, school board member, state and federal officials to talk to us, the D/deaf constitutency from time to time to build our political and community relationships!! Of course, many elected officeholders LOVE free foods and drinks. Don't forget to pamper their aides, too!

Look at our own tendency within the Deaf communities to be more reactive when something like the AB 2072 bill in California (2010) and HB 1367 in Indiana (currently happened - 2012) than being proactive to show our real political muscles. JUST REGISTER TO VOTE NOW!! DO IT NOW!! Please follow up with your voter registration in 2 weeks.

Roberta Thoryk did mention about why why we tend to be more reactive than proactive. Michele Westfall replied "Money, money".

Samuel Hawks posted his comment on "Indiana Deaf Education Coaliton" FB Page with his good question asked -
Indiana Deaf Education Coalition
Samuel H. Hawk- Been thinking about HB1367, not the bill itself but the entire chain of events. The legislation is progressing at a rapid speed in spite of loud objections by the Deaf community. This experience is not an exception, witness AB2072. Why would elected officials be willing to alienate an entire group of voters? I can think of only one answer: we're seen as wards rather than citizens.

I rest my case and extend my legs on the ottaman!

Mitt Romney's Father Murdered Deaf Guy

Mitt Romney, the current GOP presidential frontrunner's own father, Michigan governor, George Romney was indirectly responsible for the death of deaf guy during the late 1960s' Detroit race riot(s). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_Detroit_riot
Mitt Romney was in the Detroit prep school at that time. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/eyesontheprize/story/13_detroit.html

Governor George Romney mishandled the Detroit race riot all over the place which he repeatedly asked the U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson to send in the federal troops. Johnson refused to do upon the request of Governor George Romney. Johnson strongly disagreed with Governor George Romney why the U.S. Government should send in the federal troops to squelch the widespread race riots all over Detroit. Romney pointed out the U.S. law - the U.S. Insurrection Law of the 1807. Romney's Michigan National Guards failed to contain the riot protesters which the Detroit police department was well-known for their own police brutality. President Johnson finally sent the federal troops after getting Governor George Romney to sign the legal agreement about the Detroit race riot got out of control.

Roy Delco Banks, the 46 years old African American deaf guy walked to the bus from his house. The Michigan National Guard shot him behind the back without any warnings. The National Guard mistakenly thought that Banks was an escaped looter. The neighbors and relatives disputed the claims about Banks ran with another guy from the store which the citywide curfew was imposed til 5:30am. Roy Banks rose at 4am for going to work. Roy and his wife owned the house. Roy Banks got hit in the right groin and died from bullet wounds on Monday, August 15th, 1967 at 4:30pm.

The shooting of Roy Banks led to more inflamed riots all over Detroit area which people were very angry about an innocent man being shot to death. The Detroit race riots continued over days which was recorded as the "second" worst urban riot in the history of the United States of America - real destructive and deadliest - 800 dead and 2,000 buildings destroyed.

The Toledo Blade newspaper from Ohio ran an article on the death of Roy Banks on August 16, 1967 - http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1350&dat=19670816&id=pAhPAAAAIBAJ&sjid=dwEEAAAAIBAJ&pg=7265,4623689

George Romney and Mitt Romney shared much personal mannerisms which raised questions about how fit for Mitt Romney to be elected as the President of the United States. The past "father -son" political dynasty for leading the country often resulted in disastrous leadership from "John Quincy Adams" to George W. Bush" with their former "president' father, "John Adams" and "George Herbert Walker Bush". George Romney did run for the GOP presidential race in 1968 against Richard M. Nixon, the front runner. Romney ended up doing very bizarre stuff like claiming that he was brainwashed on the issue of 'Vietnam War". From Romney's own saying -

"When I came back from Viet Nam [in November 1965], I'd just had the greatest brainwashing that anybody can get." He then shifted to opposing the war: "I no longer believe that it was necessary for us to get involved in South Vietnam to stop Communist aggression in Southeast Asia." Decrying the "tragic" conflict, he urged "a sound peace in South Vietnam at an early time." Thus Romney disavowed the war and reversed himself from his earlier stated belief that the war was "morally right and necessary".[139]"

Governor George Romney never bothered to revisit Roy Delco Banks' unfortunate incident like assigning the commission to find out who the Michigan National Guard serviceman irresponsibly shot Banks to his slow and painful death. Gov. George Romney never visited the widow of Roy Delco Banks to pay the respect to Roy or provided any monetary compensation.

Roy Delco Banks' educational background and job profession were largely unknown where he attended the school for the deaf or held the job.

In the memory of Roy Delco Banks and his loved ones and friends, we ought to create the permanent honor for this innocent victim undeservedly got shot without any formal warnings. Deaf Americans are much aware of this very common police tactic and practice for them to shoot and ask questions later.

The National Association of the Deaf, Michigan State Association of the Deaf and Detroit deaf organizations ought to establish the permanent monument of Roy Delco Banks, a victim of poorly-planned urban riot control and uncaring public office holders. That will symbolize our greater presence to be safe and protected by any means of law enforcement and military protection.

For raising the question(s) about Mitt Romney's mental/emotional fitness to lead our country within his personal mannerism and leadership style. You could see for yourself how Mitt Romney lost his cool with the reporter at the running time - 2;42. You could see how "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" Mitt Romney could be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdGUSjd3Tmo&feature=related

Ms. Quinn taught the eight years old deaf kids at the St. Joseph School for the Deaf in Bronx area (New York City). Her body was discovered on January 3, 1973. The 1970s film with the casting of Diane Keaton and very young Richard Gere which boosted Keaton's film career. Actor Richard Gere did not get the full recognizance until he appeared in the leading role for "Days of Heaven".

The Washington Examiner, a daily free mini-newspaper catered to the commuters of Greater Metropolitian Washington area (DC), did not mention anything "deaf" regarding of the 40th anniversary of "Looking for Mr. Goodbar". http://washingtonexaminer.com/local/crime-punishment/2011/12/crime-history-teachers-slaying-inspiration/2047711

For more information regarding Roseanna Quinn, the victim of "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseann_Quinn The family of Roseann Quinn also put Roseann on the FB page. Ever someone wrote the poetry about Roseann Quinn.

Ms. Quinn was a hearing lady with the master degree in teaching the deaf at the St. Joseph School for the Deaf in Bronx area. She got whirled in the 1970s' Sexual Revolution and ended up

dead on the New Year 1973. Many people were very shocked about the alleged "double life" of generous and beloved schoolteacher engaged in abusive sexual relationships with male losers beyond imagination of elementary schoolteachers in general.
