The Vatican chose to keep Father Murphy cuz he was a successful fundraiser for the Church. It chose to ignore the pleas from deaf victims for years. Murphy was a school prinpical himself.

There's only one deaf priest in the Catholic Church. It is Rev. Thomas Coughlin who graduated from St. Mary's School for the Deaf in Buffalo, NY and was ordained in 1977 at Batlimore, MD. He comes from a deaf family.
ReplyDeleteI see from Deaf Heritage that Catholicism lagged from other religions in having deaf leaders in Catholicism.
