Jon Dressler, the Vocational Rehabilitation counselor in the Bay State (Massachusetts) also done the moonlighting job as a caretaker for the Work, Independence and Community agency commonly known as the WIC.
The MetroWest Daily News via Norman Miller reported that Dressler had been seen leaving the three vulnerable deaf individuals in the van without A/C or heat in seperate three incidents.
Dressler was rumored using the cochlear implant (CI) device and use American Sign Language (ASL). He had been unfavorably impressed by the VR deaf clients. That probably led to his employment dismissal from the state Vocational Rehabilitation.
The news of Jon Dressler's arrest had been the heavy news buzz within the Boston Deaf Community so far.
Here is an article from the MetroWest Daily News with more details like Dressler's age, clients' full name and past incidents involved Dressler's irresponsibility for the care of two mentally challenged individuals and one deaf individual with cerebral palsy (CP) -

Jon Dressler will be arraigned tomorrow due to the availability of legal interpreter. Only four to five certificated legal interpreters within statewide in Massachusetts.

Is there a picture of him?
ReplyDeleteRead the article carefully... Dressler did NOT leave the three deaf/mentally disabled people in the van while he attended his daughter's soccer game; his NEIGHBOR called the cops "telling them Dresser left the people in the van for more than an hour," the first sentence of the article reads "A Framingham man hired to care for three deaf and mentally disabled people left them sitting in a hot van while he mowed his lawn Saturday, police said." Also, near the end of the article, "Dresser promised Goncalves that he would not leave them in the van again and had to leave to attend his daughter's soccer game." Meaning, when the officer approached him to talk, he apologized and said something along the lines of "hey, officer, I gotta jam so I don't miss my daughter's soccer game..."
ReplyDeleteNowhere did I see any reference in the article to his using a Cochlear Implant, much less ASL... It only made a reference to "sign language" Why mention that, anyway? Yeah, obviously Dressler is a moron and deserves to be punished, but where does the CI factor in here? That fact has ABSOLUTELY no relevance in your complaint about Dressler.
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI could not possibly find any photos of Jon P Dressler, but his yearly salary as the VR counselor. :(
RLM
Scary that he used to be a VR counselor!! *shuddering*
ReplyDeleteJ. Ragdale,
ReplyDeleteYou were pretty correct about the misinformation involved Dresser and his dsughter's soccer game.
I was pretty sleepy at that moment. I read off someone's email msg and overlooked the fact.
I truly appreciate that you point out such erroreous information. Thanks again.
I should be more careful when come to the newsreporting.
My original intention was pretty correct about this deaf individual being pretty audistic due to the fact about him wearing CI.
I got anonymous source from someone in MA reported that Dresser wore CI.
If someone is truly culturally deaf. This person would be not likely to put the client in such situation like the cooked van incident.
Got it?
RLM
So, you are clearly biased against people who wear CI. As a culturally deaf person plus someone who was raised within a deaf family, I can tell you that your statement "if someone is truly culturally deaf. this person would be not likey to put the client in such situation like the cooked van incident." is totally misguided. RLM,, there is no truth to that.
ReplyDeleteCandy
Candy,
ReplyDeleteI have a good reason of being resentful toward deaf people with CI in an authority postiton.
For example, I have no problem with someone deaf with CI, who is the current president of SFRAD.
I found this deaf individual to be pretty audistic person, who speak orally to hearing ASL user in presence of deaf people at the social gathering. That hearing ASL user felt pretty uncomfortable and perplexed why that deaf person with CI had to speak orally, not
signing at all.
Ever dealt with numerous deaf individuals with CI for years. I see the common patterns among those people.
RLM
Robert,
ReplyDeleteNot former -- Jon is still a VR counselor for the Deaf -- I saw him last week!! :-)
Really? Thanks for the info. :)
ReplyDeleteJon Dressler, the former Vocational Rehabilitation counselor in the Bay State (Massachusetts) was rumored fired from the state VR agency and ended up worked as a caretaker for the Work, Independence and Community agency commonly known as the WIC.
ReplyDeleteThis is NOT true. He still works at VR agency. He only worked for WIC agency as a part time or substitute on weekends. I am sure he is fired by now. I personally know him. I don't want disclose my name here.
"My original intention was pretty correct about this deaf individual being pretty audistic due to the fact about him wearing CI. "
ReplyDelete"I have a good reason of being resentful toward deaf people with CI in an authority postiton. "
dude... I have an CI. I loved it... the headset's broken right now, and I miss it dearly. I'm trying to find help in getting a replacement.. Oh, and a dear friend of mine, who is culturally deaf, raised by deaf parents, went to a deaf institution and now college, yet she has a CI too. Doesn't like it as much as I do, but she's got it. So tell me this, you have a problem with us being in a position of authority, as you claimed to Candy? Dude, YOU are the problem. Crab theory, hello? I feel more comfortable talking than I do signing. I've learned Russian and am working on French, both oral languages. Would you have a problem with me choosing to communicate in a language of MY OWN choice, even if I made sure my word was accessible across all languages spoken or signed? I daresay you are the problem here. I am in NO WAY culturally deaf, and here you're implying that "my kind" would leave three deaf mentally disabled individuals in a hot van... Wow. Thanks a lot, dude.
News reporting is about being as objective as possible and report facts. The fact Jon Dressner has one is an irrelevant fact to the case. The case here is he endangered three mentally disabled individuals. Excuse my choice of language but... WHO CARES about the CI?
Oh, and let me state for the record that I am also pursuing my education in langue des signes francaise.
