Deaf-Friendly Clinic Shut Down!

The "Deaf-friendly" clinic in Miami Lakes, FL (Miami area) recently closed down due to lack of regular deaf clients and not enough people to keep the clinic running. It just opened few months ago

The staffers seems not really fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). They just fairly sign.

  2. I am not surprised because I found out about deafclinic from vlogger who is not living in my area. I live not far from deafclinic site . I would know first before that vlogger posted about deafclinic. That 's example of lack of media or communication toward to deaf community of South Florida.

  3. I was wonder if another location in Flordia with a Fluent ASL staff in Deaf Service instead " DeafClinic" seem lack of exposed to hearing people or business. Use right words as Deaf Service instead of Deaf Clinic. it is seem not make a sense name of service.

That's what I believe that Service with a important words. Disability Service is not for Deaf but related with Sign Language for ... Any kind of right words for deaf service so they can recognized it,

    What do you think? Mark

  4. Deaf Pixie: I agree with you about right words . Well, I have full health insurance coverage under my work and go to private doctor rather than clinic that open to Medicare / Medicaid that often catering to deaf person with SSI/SSDI that would help with one person or more who know the sign language in a specific place. More media exposure from local deaf agencies would be helpful.
I don't have a knowledge sign language nurse or staff at my doctor's office but would be nice if I have one. I use my interpreter if I need for the detail consultation than just regular check up. .
