Jeez, Ella Mae Lentz just used the similar parallel between the real contradication of the approval of the AB 2072 from the California House Health Committee on very same day - Hilter's Birthday on April 20th.
You, Russell do not understand the point of comparsion and contradication, etc.
You should not call Ella that way. You must be a real man to acknowledge your own cruelty and sexism.

Good one. I have a video of Ella saying something about ASL in 1977. It is powerful and it made me realize that she is not an extremist at all because she has that same vision and thinking for long time. Maybe the true extremists are those who are against Ella. :)

You probably confuse Ella with Tom Bertling's first book which accuse the deaf establishment of sacrificing the deaf kids.
Bertling never acknowledged any biliography in all his books to support his claims or evidence.
U should identify who you are, instead of hiding behind the anonymous alias.
Jesus Christ would not approve of your tactic as a faceless enemy.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, no one owns deaf babies except the parents. Our country is based on "For the people, By the people". That means a parent has the right to choose whats best for the child You CANNOT justify a child with hearing loss to learn ASL only without consideration of the child's hearing level, needs, and family factors. Remember, one size does NOT fill all.
Nobody has the right to say "Today is Hitler's Birthday" to remind everyone during the darkest moment of our recent times. It's degrading enough to use that as analogy. Also, she mentioned racial remarks about oralism. I reacted to her actions that were inappropriate. I do speak fluently and I use ASL, too. I'm profoundly deaf in both ears...what does she have the right to judge that oralism isn't working. It does work for some people including myself, my wife, and my son. She should apologize for making these remarks.
Imagine if President Obama mentioned to public as "Today is Hitler's Birthday" to spite the republican's vote.

ReplyDeleteSince you're employed at the Fremont School for the Deaf in California, you have violated terms of employment. The state of California expects all languages to be accessible to every child's needs. The IEP supersedes the teachers based on parents' requests. If you believe in ASL only, then you shouldn't be working there.

Secondly, you have incorrect information. CSD do abide whatever parents request in their IEP meetings. No need to elaborate on that but CSD takes pride in trying to improve education for Deaf children and we will not back down.
