Out of curiousity, why the deaf people sign 'Pepsi" in resemblance of old ASL sign for Italy so far?
Was the Pepsi Cola, Inc. ran by the Italian-Americans or what? Look at the surname of Nancy Pelosi, another Italian-American as the current House of Speaker, native Baltimorean herself? Pelosi ~ Pepsi
My deaf mother and other deaf Marylanders signed Pepsi in much different way like "Y" hitting on the lower lip in repeated moves. They usually made facial expression with arched eyebrows like "Wanna a Pepsi?" with the handshaped of Y on the lip.
Handful of deaf people illogically sign "Coke drink" in resemblance of vaccine shot on the interior part between forearm and bicep.
I have seen the current Pepsi ASL sign for very first time when I enrolled at Gallaudet. I really never bothered to ask the logical meaning behind the present-day Pepsi sign.
What about any of you, deaf people out there?
My family heartily drink Pepsi glass bottles for treats until my deaf mother turned to the Canadian Ginger Ale drinks from time to time. My family lost real interests in drinking Pespi after all the carbonated drink manfacturers turned to the composition of plastic liter drinks. Yeech!
There are still carbonated drinks served in glass bottles in some ethnic restuarants. I gulped Coke from the glass bottle which reminded me much of my childhood how delicious carbonated drinks could be.
I want to know the origin of Pepsi sign. Could anyone deaf out there help me with this one? Thanks.

You, Jamie Berke, Please Relinquish Your AgBAD Membership
I, Robert L. Mason, RLMDEAF blogger, herby challenge you, Jamie Berke to relinquish (cancel/give up) your Alexander Graham Bell Association (AgBAD) membership as a shining example to your DeafRead readership along with your own blogs, "About: Deafness" and "Berke Outspoken".
You often said to me and others that you found American Sign Language (ASL) to be incredibly beautiful and unique. You always wanted to be memersized with the usage of American Sign Language (ASL) to more advanced level. What happened?
Unforunately, the Alexander Graham Bell Association (AgBAD) chose to undercut the existence of visibly eloquent and majestic language, American Sign Language (ASL) within the Pespi television commerical for the Super Bowl 2008 bonzana ads.
What give the AgBAD organization such right to dictate the viewing options of Americans from making up their own minds to appreciate the Pespi's Super Bowl 2008 commerical ad with the use of American Sign Language (ASL)? The AgBAD organization ought not to interfere the commerical entity from paying respect to the linguistic minority usage in the United States like the American Sign Language.
The Pepsi Cola, Inc. always supported the progressive causes and involved in untapped niche market in its company history. Pepsi Cola Inc., reached out to the disfranchised African American customers in the late 1940s. The Pepsi Cola came up with all-black adveristment and portrayed African-Americans in a positive light. One Pespi ad with the young African American kid in the 1940s was the future Secretary of Commerce, Ron Brown. Other Pepsi ads featured 20 prominent African Americans from the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Ralph Bunche and photographer Gordon Parks. Pepsi also was well-known for its marketing innovation within the marketing circle.
The Pepsi Co also showed the Coca Cola Company's reptuation for its reclutance of hiring African Americans in the pre-civil rights period. Pepsi exposed the systematic racism and Jim Crow laws as a selling point to boost its company sales of carbonated drink. How brillant!
Of course, Pepsi Co. dealt with the heat from the white America about extending its company resources and marketing strategy to the African American community. Pepsi Co. stood up to the critics of its day. Pespi's gutsy move got paid off with the product sales over the Coca Cola Company later in years.
Pespi Cola Inc. also is known for not really protecting the marketing shares of its flagship brands anyway. Pespi could withstand the organized boycotts or threats so far. The majority of Americans will see the AgBAD organization in a bad light for attempting to censor or imitidate the multi-national corporation into submissive role.
The AgBAD organization have done was the assault on the use of language choice and free market option within its selfish objection to the Pespi Co's use of culturally deaf individuals and American Sign Language (ASL). The Pespi Co. marketing team just got an idea from the EnAble, an employee network with its mission of promoting more inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
The Deaf American community of the early 21th Century is in the struggle to retain linguistic and cultural intergity in an assimilating society within the use of American Sign Language as its own language choice and preference.
One thing that you could do something is to resign from the AgBAD organization as a member to show your own personal disgust with the AgBAD leadership under Alexander T. Graham. The AgBAD organization will be seen as an agent of linguicism if they do not issue the formal apology in timely manner.
Or you are like the people, who do nothing about ethnic and cultural and linguistic persecution throughout the humankind history. The issue about your AgBAD membership fall on your shoulders now. Please issue the videocast of tearing up your AgBAD membership and urge other AgBAD members to denounce the Alexander Graham Bell Association (AgBAD) for inflicting the linguistic genocide upon Americans and the global viewers. Thanks!

Cy's "Deaf Tea Time" Great Posting About Discords on DeafRead
Cy's wisdoms always prevail every time on her "Deaf Tea Time" vlogsite.
I encountered too many deaf people and told me personally that they lost their personal interests in the DeafRead site lately.
Questions arised about the Pro-CI blogs whether they are really the corporate-driven agendas for the CI manfacturers and investors. If yes, then the DeafRead ought to charge the so-called business interests for the posting fee to run the Deaf blogsphere.
I am with Cy and other concerned deaf individuals all the way. Many pro-CI print publications do not bother to print any viewpoints from culturally deaf individuals whose express criticism or concerns about the CI itself.
Not many culturally deaf mediums exist anywhere in the world. Let us, culturally deaf people have our own spaces without being compromised, infringed upon, imposed or annoyed.
Cy offered the perfect solution - seperate "medical" page on the DeafRead blogsphere.
Culturally deaf people often willing to bend down for the sake of so-called diverse viewpoints, but the proponents of CI and oralism frequently do not return such a favor.
At least, we, culturally deaf need our own spaces like steering CI proponents to the smoking area. Every of us know the secondhand smoke is generally bad for nonsmokers. Smokers still could light up their addictions feet away from non-smokers and individuals with asthma in designated area. Solution for everyone!
Thank you, Cy for bringing up this brilliant idea. We, the DeafRead viewers always love you and your sincere vlog presentations.

Why Isn't Jerry Covell on DPN's 20thAnniversary Guest List?
Why isn't Jerry Covell on the Deaf President Now (DPN)'s 20th Anniversary Banquet guest list at the Gallaudet Kellogg Conference Center (GKCC) next March 8th?
Jerry Covell was one of the four DPN student leaders whose known as most firebrand speaker among them. He surely fired up the apathetic Gallaudet student body into real action. His speaking style definitely electrificed the would-be student protestors and other gawkers. Without Jerry Covell as the DPN student leader, the DPN protest probably will not take the place or be very flavorless.
Jerry Covell is no longer with the Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH) as an executive director. Rumors surfaced about him being very unhappy with the MCDHH and the state of Missouri.
Jerry Covell seems disfrancished with the Deaf America for years. Jerry's deaf kid brother, Joey Covell, was no longer with us. Joey left on his term.
Jerry Covell offered himself to be a meditator between the "Unity for Gallaudet" protestors and university adminstration. His offer never gotten through at all.
Where is Jerry Covell now?

Effective Protest Tactics Against "Steak 'n Shakes"
First of all, I owe a heartfelt apology to Karen Putz for my harsh criticism of her so-called melee with the "Steak 'n Shakes" establishment. I should refrain myself from writing up the blog piece without knowing the full story what really happened.
Let's do the effective protest tactics to teach the "Steak 'n Shakes" fast-food chains for defying such common sense approach to modify or resolve the given situation with Karen Putz. How come didn't the simple order like two milkshakes be served without making any fuss within the assigned manager of this fast food establishment?
We ought to do the "seize" and "park" of the drive-thru path at most "Steak 'n Shakes" establishment during the very busy lunch hours. We have to be pragmatic about wavering some sites if the manager have the history of accommodating deaf customers in the past. We do not need to stir up the wrong hornet nest.
Get any deaf volunteers including kids to see if they will come down to seize the drive-thru path of the "Steak 'n Shakes" on arranged day. Please notify the media about time and location of organized protest.
Simply go around to the drive-thru window as other deaf drivers drive up behind the coordinator of the protest, then turn off the engine and give the auto keys to your kids to hide them from the police officers. That will block the "Steak 'n Shakes" drive-thru paths for hours and cause those establishments losing their profits from usual busy lunch traffic.
That will definitely TEACH the "Steak 'n Shakes" establishment how they ought to treat deaf drivers without any difficulties. The "Steak 'n Shakes" will get the message of dealing with deaf customers.
Ever stand in the line inside the "Steak 'n Shakes" establishment to keep other hearing customers from ordering anything at those places. Just ignore the manager and employee(s) and use ASL with rhetorical question for facial expression.
If the police officers are called upon. Just make gesture that you try to place the order, but tell the police that the manager and employee(s) give you or other deaf protesters hard time for ordering some items.
Please check out the local ordinance to find out if any organized protest like seizing and parking is against the law . Find the civil rights lawyer(s) or legal consultant(s) and have him/her coming to the protest to observe as a witness. Okay?

You, HOH Whiners About Deaf Access!!!
Oh boy! You, Hard of Hearing or Hearing Impaired populace tend to whine about the so-called deaf access within the fast food outlets!
You, HOH/deaf individuals ought to do the real favor to the Mother Earth (real fragile macro-organism) by getting out of your vehicle and walking up to the counter to make some orders. Stop the gasoline emission from contributing to the growing seriousness of climate changes! Why you have to sit on your fat tush and drive by the drive-thru windows??
Fast food stuffs are not good for you anyway. Consuming food ought to be the special moment to appreciate your dining in relaxing manner than chomping up or gulping heart-cloggin' drinks (ex. milkshakes). Why drink the milkshakes in the wintertime? People in general, should learn to sit down and eat foods at the real table. No time for such a task? When will you take a hard look at yourself what you and others are doing to each others like screaming out about the lack of deaf access?
No wonder, the majority of American kids are really obese (fat ones)! What an idea of teaching your own kids how to lead such a life like too lazy to get out of the car and walk up to the counter to order some foods for convienence!
We, deaf and hoh people will be better off by not patronizing any business that doesn't provide equal accessibility/accomodation. Why waste our own energy or give ourselves real stress like taking up an issue with the so-called deaf access.
Parents of young children ought to stock up fresh fruits/vegetables, nuts, sunflower seeds and other healthy snakcs in their own personal vehicle as a case of emergency for energy resurgence, etc.
People ought go back to the days of food huntings and gatherings than waltzing thru the fast food establishment drive-thru. We spend too much on the Internet browsing, television viewings and shopping of non-necessity stuffs nowaday.
The HOH parent of young son ought to be legally cited for providing junk foods to hir own son. Any parents smoke in their own homes with presence of children, ought to be legally charged for child abuse and endangerment to the health of their own children.
Is our deaf society getting too lazy like making a whiny demand for the deaf access to the fast food drive-thru orders? We really do not have to follow the footsteps of other fat hearies like going to the fast food outlets.
Let's do something productive like raising the standards in Pre-K to 12 deaf education to produce well-rounded deaf individuals and strength the employment protections among deaf employees from being systematically discriminated or unfairly demoted or fired, etc.
Real shame on Karen Putz and other bloggers/vloggers for making a big fuss about not being served "heart-clogging" drinks at the Steak 'N Shakes. So what?
More to life than craving for something that will clog your hearts and produce excessive mucus coming from the consumption of dairy products. Comprendo?
